*sigh*

Todd saw the hand specialist today, who confirmed there were bones broken in both wrists.  He has another new cast on the right wrist (orange and black!) and a different, more supportive brace on the left wrist.  He’ll have a minor surgery next Wednesday on the right wrist (which is actually good news–healing will supposedly be faster with a screw than a cast alone).  It looks like Todd will be working on molding his butt impression into the couch cushions for another couple weeks, but also giving his one good leg quite a workout.  Here’s Todd showing off his latest apparatuses (according to Wikipedia, that really is a word!?) while watching TV with Sammy “No Pants”.

  1. That’s too bad. Hope you get well soon. The couch looks very comfortable with all those cushions stacked up.

Todd, I hope you are on the mend soon… I will say some prayers for you that the surgery goes well and that you are back to normal quickly! It sounds really uncomfortable (especially with a little one to take care of) and I wish there was something else I could do. You are all in my thoughts! P.S. I think Sam looks very comfy pants-less! :)

  3. Todd,
As one who has screws, plates, and replcements parts in his body, I think you will like the screw holding your writst together better than a cast on it for several weeks. Since I broke the same ankle three times, I know there is life after the shock of how it happened wears off and the immediate slowing of activities becomes evident. I am sure the next four weeks will go quickly.
    You are in our prayers.

  4. Make sure that any side effects of “sitting around” are tied back to the original work comp injury: back pain, DVT, muscle atrophy, joint aches, etc. Complications of the original work comp injury should be covered by work comp.

Just my medical billing & coding background talking. :-)

  5. Todd, very sorry to hear about your unfortunate accident. Seems like your spirits are good and the casts are very becoming. Try to make what you can out of being relegated to the couch for a while.
