The baby is officially big enough that I feel like it is limiting my mobility. I’ve been walking a lot for exercise, but I’m starting to get more tired walking up the subway stairs, then the hill to our apartment, then our apartment stairs. I try to stay positive since I know it’s all keeping me in shape for the big event, and the weeks that will follow. I used to be very flexible, but now my belly gets in the way of me touching my toes. I feel like a child having to sit down to put on shoes! In my yoga class today, there were several yoga poses (and this is prenatal yoga!) where my belly touched the floor, or hit my ribcage before I could really stretch into the pose. Rolling over in bed, getting out of bed, washing dishes and cooking have also become a bit of a challenge.
The baby is still moving all the time, and with strength. Some evenings it entertains Todd and I just to to watch my belly move around! I was part of the bar games with some friends last Friday since a couple of my friends had never felt a baby move before–they were both shocked and amazed. Luckily, no strangers have taken the liberty of touching my belly (yet). I have noticed that people are much friendlier to me–giving me seats on the subway, letting me on the bus first, chatting me up while waiting in line for the checkout, or even cashiers on the checkout (friendly cashiers are not the norm in NYC). It’s been one of the surprising perks of pregnancy!
